All new homes in the UK will require EV charging points

Starting in 2022, all new homes and businesses in the UK will require electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. Buildings that are also undergoing major renovations, will be forced to make the upgrade too.

The government plans to completely ban the sale of petrol and diesel cars by 2030.

“This will mean people can buy new properties already ready for an electric vehicle future while ensuring charge points are readily available at new shops and workplaces across the UK – making it as easy as refuelling a petrol or diesel car today'”

This new law will make England the first country to require all new homes to have EV chargers. The aim is also to boost confidence and help those transitioning from fossil fuel vehicles to overcome range anxiety.
