Mick Shaikly appointed Head of Garage Section at the IAAF
We’re proud to share that Mick Shaikly, owner of Shaikly Motor Company, has been appointed Head of the Garage Section at the Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation (IAAF). Mick will also be joining the IAAF Council as part of the role.
The appointment will see Mick working more closely with garages, motor factors and suppliers across the UK to help represent and support the independent garage sector.
What is the IAAF?
The Independent Automotive Aftermarket Federation represents the UK’s independent automotive aftermarket.
The organisation works with garages, suppliers and motor factors to support the industry on key issues including regulation, technical standards, training and access to vehicle repair information. It also helps ensure independent garages continue to have a strong voice within the wider automotive sector.
As vehicles become more complex and technology continues to evolve, organisations like the IAAF play an important role in supporting independent workshops and helping the industry adapt to change.
Supporting independent garages
Mick has spent decades working within the independent garage sector and running Shaikly Motor Company in Colchester.
Through this new role, he will help represent the interests of independent garages and contribute to conversations about the future of the industry. This includes working alongside manufacturers, suppliers and other industry organisations to ensure independent garages continue to have access to the tools, training and technical information needed to maintain and repair modern vehicles.
Looking ahead
Mick will continue leading the team at Shaikly Motor Company while also contributing to the work of the IAAF.
It’s a role he is looking forward to taking on and an opportunity to support the wider independent garage network across the UK.
